A few warbirds and a few specially marked aircraft were worth noting at this year’s NAS Oceana air show. The U. S. Air Force Heritage Flight and DeHavilland Vampire aerobatics were definite warbird highlights, as well as some of the specially marked Hornets of the U. S. Navy, that noted anniversaries and heritage.
Although primarily a Naval Aviation-themed air show due to the Atlantic Fleet’s F/A-18 Hornet squadrons’ home base being at Oceana, nearby Joint Base Langley-Eustis provided Air Force aircraft too. A scattering of warbirds were present, including an L-19A Bird Dog, B-25, Corsair and the P-51D “Bald Eagle” that made up the other half of the Heritage Flight.
