The D-Day Squadron made a week-long stop in Connecticut, at the Waterbury – Oxford CT airport, before most of the aircraft flew northeast bound and off towards Europe. The group of Douglas C-47s and DC-3s were to participate in the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day assault in France, during World War II.

While in Oxford, the group worked on large formation flying and did some advance media work with suitably-dressed reenactors who portrayed the parachutists that played a major role just prior to the main beach assault.

Some of our Photorecon.net/ClassicWarbirds.net/CivilAviationWorld.com photographers got a wonderful chance to fly during some of the training, and were afforded some great access before the group departed for places like Presque Isle, Maine and Goose Bay, Labrador.
