The 2017 edition of the Imperial War Museum’s Flying Legends Air Show at Duxford brought together more than four dozen World War II and civilian aircraft from the 1930s and 1940s, on a wonderful grass landing field. The show is always full of surprises, dissimilar formations, rare aircraft flypasts, and reenactors.
Held on July 8 and 9, the show obviously displayed many British aircraft, with makes and models like the DeHavilland DH88 Comet and Percival Mew Gull, along with Hawker Hurricanes, Supermarine Spitfires, and a Bristol Blenheim.
Add to that American – built planes such as the North American P-51 Mustang, Curtiss Tomahawk, Douglas C-53, Grumman Bearcat, and others… and one got to see a great cross section of aviation that profoundly changed the world between 1930 and 1945.
Below are just some of the images that Howard German brought back the to the U.S. after the show this year… enjoy, and thanks for sharing Howard !!
